Production Package Doctor / FAQ

Questions, answered with boundaries.

Product scope, data handling, operational results, and Pilot access—without turning limitations into footnotes.

01What is an eDiscovery production package?

It is a delivery set prepared for document review or exchange. A package may include load files such as DAT and OPT, together with referenced images, text, and native files. The exact composition varies, which is why its structure and stated review scope matter.

02What does V1 check?

V1 checks package discovery, deterministic DAT/OPT pairing, DAT header mapping, OPT structure, selected DAT/OPT relationships, source integrity during the audit window, and the validation rules stated in the report. It does not validate every production format or every downstream-platform rule.

03What do PASS, NEEDS_REVIEW, and FAILED mean?

They are operational outcomes under the implemented V1 rules. PASS means no finding was raised within that scope. NEEDS_REVIEW preserves a question requiring operator confirmation. FAILED identifies a blocking structural problem. None of the three is legal advice or a compliance certification.

04How do Strict and Best-Effort modes differ?

Strict Mode stops or requests review when required structure cannot be determined reliably. Best-Effort Mode continues independent checks through recoverable uncertainty and preserves review evidence. Both modes require operator review; neither is described as universally safe or unsafe.

05Is case content uploaded?

No. The desktop application does not upload DAT, OPT, image, text, native, report, or derived case content. Limited authorization, lease-refresh, device-lifecycle, and opaque Pilot-accounting data may be exchanged.

06Does the tool change source files?

No. Production Package Doctor reads the selected source package and writes reports to a separate operator-selected location; it does not repair or rewrite the source package.

07How does the invited Pilot work?

The invited Pilot allows up to five recognized real production packages during 30 calendar days beginning after the first successful real-package audit. Access is offered individually after a workflow-fit discussion and is not public or self-service.

08What does seven-day offline access mean?

Seven-day offline access is a cached authorization refresh window, not the 30-day Pilot duration. It should not be read as a promise that the workstation never needs authorization network access.

09Does PPD certify compliance or guarantee downstream import?

No. Automated findings support professional review; they do not provide legal advice, certify compliance, repair source data, or guarantee downstream import.

10How do I request a 15-minute Demo?

Use the contact page to open a pre-addressed email. Include your role, whether you work with DAT and OPT packages, and the workflow you want to discuss. Do not attach case materials, license keys, or confidential package content.

A workflow-specific question?

Use a focused 15-minute Demo.

Start with your role and the DAT/OPT workflow you want to discuss. Do not attach case materials.
